“Ding” Darling Wildlife Society, the non-profit Friends of the Refuge organization, supports the J. N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge Complex through the generation of independent funds to undertake student education, internships, research projects, informational literature, advocacy, land acquisition and facility enhancements.

FISH was launched nearly 40 years ago from the kitchens and vehicles of island residents, who wanted to make their Sanibel-Captiva community a better place to live, work and visit.

With camps for kids and adults, the Sanibel Sea School is a popular educational source for the whole family. The school has opened new locations and now offers more programs than before, therefore, they are always welcoming willing volunteers.

The Santiva Islanders is a non-profit organization providing social, recreational, wellness, and educational activities for all adult Islanders. We serve Sanibel, Captiva, and the surrounding area. Whether you are a year-round resident, part-time resident, or visitor, please join us for lots of camaraderie!
We offer guided tours of many waterways in the Sanibel and Captiva area. One of our most popular trips is kayaking through the Ding Darling Wildlife Preserve, where guests can view extraordinary wildlife, such as spotting a Roseate Spoonbill, while paddling through the mangrove tunnels. Other popular trips include kayaking through the many canals on Sanibel, perhaps you will spot our beloved Manatees?
